What completes the pattern?

Each row follows the same idea. Can you spot it?

a different perspective.

A correct answer is only the beginning

Try this reasoning exercise, then check the rule you used. The aim is to explain a pattern, not to guess a score.

Try it yourself

Continue the sequence using a rule in which the gaps increase by two: 3, 8, 15, 24, … What comes next?

Show the explanation

35. The gaps are 5, 7 and 9. Increasing the gap by two gives 11 next, and 24 + 11 = 35. Check the rule against every earlier step before accepting it. A finite sequence can fit more than one mathematical rule; the extra instruction here makes the intended pattern explicit.

A method you can use again

  1. Write down what changes between neighboring terms instead of jumping straight to an answer.
  2. Test your proposed rule on every visible term. One matching pair is not enough.
  3. Explain why an alternative answer fails the stated rule, then try a new example.

Transfer challenge: apply the same gap rule to 2, 6, 12, 20. The gaps are 4, 6 and 8, so the next term is 30. These exercises support practice; they do not provide a standardized or clinical IQ measurement.

    Good questions.

    Understanding what a score means
    is part of thinking clearly.

Are the questions different each time?

Each round generates 6, 12 or 18 questions from 63 templates with changing numbers, shapes and solutions. The last three rounds help avoid repeats while the page is open, and on later visits if you allow storage. Resuming keeps the same questions.

    Practice or challenge mode?

Practice mode offers hints and immediate feedback; checking an answer locks it. Challenge mode reveals solutions at the end and lets you change answers until then. Difficulty levels are training categories, not scientific ratings.

Is this a real IQ test?

This is a thinking challenge for practice and enjoyment, not a standardised IQ test or professional assessment. Your score reflects only correct answers in this round. It does not measure intelligence, provide a percentile or compare you with a population.

    Who is it for?

For teenagers and adults who can read the selected language and know basic arithmetic. The challenge is for practice and enjoyment, not for assessing children’s abilities.

    How much does it cost?

At launch, practice, results and explanations are free. No card is required and there is no recurring subscription. Paid practice packs may be added later, with clear prices and terms before purchase.

    Do I need to hurry?

No. The elapsed time is shown, but there is no time limit or speed bonus. Skip and return as needed. In practice mode, checked answers are locked; in challenge mode you can change them until finishing.

    Where are my answers stored?

Progress and up to 20 summaries are saved for later visits only with your permission and if your browser allows it. Otherwise they stay in the open page only. Practice answers are not sent to the server. You can delete practice data in the footer; sharing is your choice.

Looking for a free IQ test?

IQ Edu offers free reasoning practice with explained answers, not a standardised IQ test. Your result is the percentage of questions answered correctly in one round; it cannot be converted into an IQ score. Start with an easy puzzle, read the solution, then try a fresh question using the same method.

    Your next round

How would you like to challenge yourself?
